In the frame of 2010 European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, MODEM Centre for Modern and Contemporary Arts and ReFoMix Public Benefit Ltd. in collaboration with Projekt UDENFOR opened the exhibition from the 13 sculptures, portraying homeless people, by Jens Galschiøt, Danish artist.

Judit Reigl retrospective exhibition

The retrospective exhibition of Judit Reigl has been opened on the 17th of June in MODEM. The almost 100 artworks, that covers the whole oeuvre of the 87 years old artist from the early surrealistic works up until today, can be seen in the 1300 sq meters exhibition hall until the 19th of September.

Zsolt Berszán’s (1974, Marosvásárhely) exhibition entitled Genesis-project presents wall artworks and installation art created by using industrial base materials (concrete, tar, aluminum, polyurethane foam, silicone). The artist has painted the works of art almost fully black. The reduction to black, first applied by Malevich, expresses a painterly gesture that wishes to grasp the world by focusing on the transience of matter and the absence of light.

“I do not know why, how long / can I thus remain for you / but I hold your lovely hand / and I guard your lovely eyes.” – everyone knows the lines written by Endre Ady to his wife, the Csinszka-poems are part of the school curriculum. However, it is less known that Csinszka, after the death of Ady, lived with the painter, Ödön Márffy for almost one and a half decades and several masterpieces were born from this relationship.
